You know you’re bound to become a realtor when you drive around looking at houses and wander into open houses for fun. Katie Hayes was one of those people, and her love for real estate lured her into a fun and exciting career where she still gets excited about the process, right along side her clients.

Katie is no stranger to hard work and dedication.  In High School she was a scholar athlete, juggling three sports and receiving the highest accolade possible in the sport of field hockey (1st Team All Metropolitan).  She went onto play Division 1 at the College of William and Mary on a scholarship and excelled as one of the top players in the country (earning CAA All-Conference, CAA Player of the Week, CAA All-Tournament, NFHCA North/South Senior All-Star, VASID All-State and Regional All-American honors).  She helped lead her team to their 1st visit to the NCAA tournament in school history in 2000 and a ranking as high as 7th in the nation during their 2001 season.  Fifteen years later, she still holds a school record at W&M for most goals scored in a single game (4).  Additionally, in January 2015 one of Katie's lifelong dreams came true when she was inducted into the Fairfax High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

Katie became a realtor in July 2007 after working 4.5 years in the Mortgage Industry as a Loan Processer/Loan Officer Assistant for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage.  From 2007-2009 she worked as a Buyers Agent for one of the Top Teams in the nation for Keller Williams Realty.  In 2009, she decided to venture out on her own joining Arbour Realty, which was acquired by RLAH in 2015.   Katie quickly began to make a name for herself in the business, earning prestigious honors in the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors Multi Million Dollar Sales Club and Top Producer Club for 7 Years in a row (2010-2016).  She was recently honored in 2016 by Washingtonian Magazine as a Top Realtor.  She has sold over 200 homes and 50 rentals in her career.

Katie loved working in mortgages, but found that she was drawn to the real estate process and being able to work so closely with her clients to help them achieve their goals. Her innate devotion to “her team” extends into all she does. Armed with her strong financial background and intimate knowledge of the Northern Virginia area, Katie gives her clients the extra edge they need from a realtor in the Northern Virginia area. Katie grew up in Fairfax, lives in Loudoun, began her career with Keller Williams in Prince William and has been with RLAH Arlington for almost 8 years now; she knows the area backwards and forwards which is a fantastic bonus for her clients.

Katie completed the qualifications necessary to become a Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE), which puts her in the upper echelon of Realtors when it comes to helping homeowners and homebuyers navigate through a short sale or foreclosure process.   If you are in a situation where foreclosure may be on the horizon, please take the time to speak with Katie about your other options.

Patience, hard work, and creativity all shine through when Katie works with her clients. Katie’s quiet confidence and professionalism shine through all of her work as she goes above and beyond for her clients to get the job done!

Katie lives in Aldie with her husband Mike and daughter Mackenzie.  In her free time she enjoys being active, whether it be Running or hopping into a Hot Yoga, Barre or Pilates class.  She lives for the sunshine and some of her favorite childhood memories are from summer vacations on Hilton Head Island, a tradition she hopes to continue with her family for years to come.  She also has a knack and passion for home décor and enjoys decorating her house for each holiday or season.  Her eye for design and staging has proven to be a huge value to her clients when listing their home:)
